Date: June 1, 2002 - Balance II
Under the umbrella of balance for me comes time management. My personal and professional life are about constant and never-ending improvement. The challenge is to be efficient and effective.
We want to do things with efficiency and expediency, but we also need to be doing the things that matter most--to be effective.
An acronym that I find useful is:
If I do something in at least one of these areas each day, it keeps me focused on ways to make my work, my business and my household work better.
My suggestion is at the beginning of each day, strive to simplify three things, organize three things, delegate (outsource), automate or systemize three things.
At the end of each day, review what you've done, how you did it, and look for ways to make tasks less tedious. In doing so, you're constantly making improvements and having more fun in the process.
On a personal note, it keeps me energized and motivated and helps me to be more creative and innovative.
Give it a try. Post S.O.D.A. over your desk and apply it for thirty days. I bet you'll see a difference. Keep me updated of how you're doing.
